OOF: Finite Element Analysis of Microstructures

Selected pixels can be assigned to named groups, and subsequently retrieved. This menu contains submenus and functions designed to manage the pixelgroups.

When a mesh is formed, the elements inherit the group names associated with the pixelgroups. The groups are transferred to the .goof file when it is saved and can be referenced in oof.

Many of the submenus of the /select menu provide ways to create groups of pixels by manipulating previously saved groups. In particular, is it possible to select a saved pixelgroup with /select/group/groupname.

In general, it is a good idea to name as many groups as possible for subsequent data analysis. It also makes it easier to edit script files for ppm2oof if there are named groups.
