Discussion

Anisotropic thermal conductivity specifies that the Heat_Flux, \(\bf
J\), depends linearly on the Temperature Field, \(T\):

      \[ {\bf J}_i = \kappa_{ij} \frac{\partial T}{\partial x_j} \]
    (6.60)

where the conductivity tensor \(\kappa\) is given by the parameter kappa.

The crystal symmetry of the material is reflected in the symmetry of the modulus, kappa. Materials containing an anisotropic Property must also contain an orientation Property.
