OOF2: The Manual
Name
Mechanical:Damping:Isotropic — Isotropic linear damping (probably unphysical).
Details
- Property Category: Damping
-
Parameters:
damping- The damping coefficient. Type: A real number.
-
Fields:
Displacement -
Equations:
Force_Balance
Discussion
This Property adds a term proportional to the time derivative of
the Displacement to the Force_Balance equation. Specifically, it adds
a contribution
to the
term in Eq. (6.120).
is a scalar given by the
parameter damping.

This property is unphysical because it breaks Galilean invariance. It was added for debugging purposes. It may, however, be useful to add stability to the numerical solution in some cases. |
