Liquidus Calculation

The liquidus defines the limit of existence of only liquid phase and thus, represents the temperature and composition where the liquid phase is saturated with solid phase(s).  Similarly the solidus defines the limit of existence of only solid phase, i.e. temperature and composition where the solid phase is saturated with liquid phase.  The ratio of solid/liquid compositions (partition coefficients) and the change of temperature as a function of liquidus composition (liquidus slopes) are important quantities for the solidification of alloys.
