Synopsis

When true, pixels with different material types and different material parameters (Young's modulus, color, etc.) are assigned to different political parties and vote against one another when electing a representative pixel for an element.

When false, material type and parameters are irrelevant for determining an element's groups.

Default: true

Note: A tragic typographical accident has led to some confusion here. The name of this variable is "matl_type/params". It acquired its name with the embedded slash before we started using slashes to delimit submenu names in the manual.
