Dislocations 2000:  Future Plans

June 19-22, 2000
NIST, Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA

Interest in the fundamentals of plastic deformation has been increasing dramatically over the past several years.  This is made evident by the strong attendance at recent events such as the June '98 NIST/LLNL Workshop in California, the '98 focus session of the March Meeting of the American Physical Society, the CECAM Meeting in Lyon in '97, the Stuttgart Meeting in '98, and the European Research and Euromat Conferences in '98.  In addition, the response to our first Dislocations 2000 announcement has been extremely positive.

To promote international communication and cooperation in this field, the organizers of the Dislocations 2000 conference agree that conferences on the Fundamentals of Plastic Deformation should be held every two or three years.   No detailed plans have yet been made and suggestions for the location of the next conference should be sent to the current conference chairman:

Dr. Lyle E. Levine
