OOF2: The Manual

Name

Couplings:ThermalExpansion:Isotropic — Isotropic thermal expansion

Details

  • Property Category: ThermalExpansion
  • Parameters:

    alpha
Thermal expansion coefficient. Type: A real number.
    T0
Temperature at which the thermal expansion vanishes. Type: A real number.

  • Fields: Temperature
  • Fluxes: Stress

Description

Isotropic thermal expansion makes an additive contribution of

Cijklαkl(TT0)
(6.72)

to the Stress, where Cijkl is the Material's elastic modulus, and T is the local Temperature Field.

αkl is the thermal expansion coefficient, which is a symmetric second rank tensor whose diagonal elements, αii , are equal to the parameter alpha, and whose off-diagonal elements are 0.

T0 is equal to the parameter T0. It is the temperature at which the thermal strain vanishes.
