Library
of Green's Functions and its Industrial Applications
Workshop at NIST, Gaithersburg, MD, on Oct. 15 and
16, 1998
A workshop on "Library of Green's Functions and its Industrial
Applications" will be held on Thursday and Friday, October 15-16,
1998, at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg,
Maryland. The goal of the workshop, sponsored by the National Institute
of Standards and Technology, is to demonstrate the idea and application
of a library of discretized Green's functions to industrial problems. Included
will be some new boundary element strategies associated with the library,
for problems in stress analysis, fracture mechanics, ultrasonic wave propagation,
and composite materials. Applications to other areas, such as acoustics,
electromagnetic and thermal phenomena, will be indicated.
The workshop will consist of brief tutorials on the methods, a demonstration
of the library, (the library will become web based), hands-on experience
with the library for the participants, and an open forum on potential uses
of the library on specific industrial problems posed by the attendees.
The attendance in the workshop is free and by invitation only. If you
are interested in receiving an invitation to attend the workshop, please
write to the undersigned with a brief description of the kind of problems
in which you would like to apply the Green's function methods.
