Selected pixels can be assigned to named groups, and subsequently retrieved. This menu contains submenus and functions designed to manage the pixelgroups.
When a mesh is formed, the elements inherit the group names associated with the pixelgroups. \index{Groups!Element} \index{Groups!Transfer to .goof file} The groups are transferred to the .goof file when it is saved and can be referenced in oof.
Many of the submenus of the /select menu provide ways to create groups of pixels by manipulating previously saved groups. In particular, is it possible to select a saved pixelgroup with /select/group/groupname.
In general, it is a good idea to name as many groups as possible for subsequent data analysis. It also makes it easier to edit script files for ppm2oof if there are named groups.
