Sessile Drop With Gravity

This is an extremely simple case. A drop of liquid sits on a surface, and is deformed by gravity and its surface energy. This problem is described as the Surface Evolver example two. You can create a customized version of the mound.fe file with a different gravity constant and/or contact angle below by filling out the form and clicking on Submit.

Adjustable parameters are the contact angle and the gravity. With negative gravity, the "mound" will be a drop hanging from the ceiling. The drop itself starts out as a 1x1x1 cube, so the gravity constant should be adjusted for that.
