OOF2: The Manual

3.15. Solver

The Solver Page is where it all comes together. After

the Solver Page is used to find the solution to the equations.

Figure 3.25 shows the layout of the Solver Page. At the top is a Mesh Chooser for selecting the Mesh to be solved. The Chooser has three parts, for selecting the Mesh and the Skeleton and Microstructure in which it resides. Below the Mesh Chooser are the Status Pane, which shows information about the solution, and the Solver Pane, for choosing a solution method. At the very bottom is the Solve button, which invokes the OOF.Solver.Solve menu command to obtain a solution.

The Status Pane

The Status Pane displays information about the current Mesh, including whether or not the solution is up-to-date, and whether or not the finite element matrix is symmetric. (Symmetric matrices can be solved by more efficient techniques than asymmetric matrices.) If a solution has been obtained, the Status Pane reports on how it was obtained.

The Solver Pane

The Solver Pane sets the solution technique that will be used by OOF.Solver.Solve when the Solve button is pressed.

[This documentation is incomplete because the interface is still evolving. We hope that the page is pretty self-explanatory. See the documentation for the Driver subclasses.]
