While log files store all the commands executed in a ppm2oof session, loading a log file can be an inefficient way to resume a session. That's because re-executing all the commands can take a long time, nearly as long as it took to execute them in the first place. Configuration files get around this difficulty by storing the complete state of the ppm2oof program. Loading a configuration file is often much quicker than loading a log file. The trade-off is that configuration files are usually very large. [35] Furthermore, configuration files are not editable, so you cannot modify a session before resuming it.

When the /quit command or Quit button asks you if you want to save your session, it is offering to save a configuration file.

[35] ppm2oof can read configuration files that have been compressed with gzip.
