When identifying pixels with a burn-type selection mechanism, it is sometimes useful to limit the extent of the burn. It often happens that a region is nearly bounded by a set of pixels of different color, except for one small breach through which a burn can escape. You can control such a burn by making the responsible pixels inflammable, that is, part of a firewall. The current pixel selection is used to set the firewalls.

The visibility of firewalls in the graphics windows is controlled by the Firewalls button in the Display dashboard.
